Morzine is at the heart of Les Portes Du Soleil (The Gateway to the Sun), the largest linked ski area in the World with more than 650 kilometres of prepared runs.
Predominately an intermediate ski/snowboard area, with a huge number of blue and red runs, both open and through forests, there are also superb black runs, new snow parks and wonderful areas off-piste.
There are great facilities for beginners and children; several good British and French ski/snowboard schools which provide high quality tuition at all levels.
The Avoriaz slopes on one side of the valley have one of the most reliable snow records of anywhere in Europe, on the other side Pleney and Nyon have fantastic views which compliment the wonderfully prepared pistes.
To help you make the most of your time on the slopes we can pre-book equipment and passes so you can head straight out. With Geneva airport just 75 minutes away, many of our guests get to ski on the day they arrive. We have arranged a good discount for you from the most convenient hire shops in Morzine. Really keen late arrivers might like to get fitted out with skis and boots at the Hotel – we can arrange that too. If you’ve very young children we are usually able to drop you off at the ski school or cable car in the morning if our minibus isn't needed for a transfer.
For non down-hill skiers there’s racquettes (snowshoes), ski du fond (cross country), ice-diving, parapenting (paragliding), snowmobile rides, tobogganing and ice skating. You could catch a game of professional Ice Hockey (Morzine is usually top of the League) or just take a quiet stroll along the riverbank up to the waterfall.
There’s a pretty lively après-ski scene; check out the Buddha bar or Bar Robinson, and later, until much later, the most popular bars and clubs - The Cavern, Dixie’s, Coyote, Opera and Paradis.
In Winter our Weekly Half Board rates include; a substantial continental breakfast with baguettes, croissants, pains au chocolat, a selection of cereals (porridge optional!) tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit juices, fresh fruit & yoghurt.
There’s afternoon tea or coffee and cake every day, superb evening meals with good quality wines, except Wednesday night (usually Seamus’ night off) when we can recommend and book excellent nearby restaurants where you can try the local specialities.
We can arrange for nannies to look after children during the day and babysitting in the evenings.
Subject to availability we offer totally flexible arrival and departure days. You can stay for 3, 4, 5 nights or longer - so you can take advantage of cheaper flights and avoid crowded airports. Please call for a price on 0033 450 79 08 42 or complete the ENQUIRY FORM. |
